Johor Port Appoints Navigis to Manage Strategic PMO New Straits Times, 13 December 2004
JOHOR Port Bhd has appointed Navigis Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Mesiniaga Bhd to manage the Project Management Office (PMO). The PMO will see Navigis project managers working closely with Johor Port for a three-year period. Navigis will not only act as consultants but will also provide training, guidance and best practices to deliver strategic information technology (IT) projects that will see an increase in reporting and port management efficiency, said the company's director of corporate affairs Dr Lim Meng Soon. "We recognise the important role that IT plays in ensuring Johor Port stays globally competitive. A strategic partnership between our IT department and Navigis will ensure that Johor Port meets global logistics standards as well as improve its bottom line, Lim said. Lim also said that the PMO is a landmark undertaking for Johor Port in ensuring that its IT projects consistently exceed its expectations. With Johor Port also an approved London Metal Exchange location for warehousing activities and facilities, the PMO will further serve to implement IT projects which are in line with stringent internationally-recognised standards. The PMO will undertake consistent project management processes, minimise any possibility of failures and maintain a more efficient and closer monitoring of the various IT projects. "In fact, PMO will identify critical areas in the port's IT projects, boost overall IT efficiency while limiting costs and delivering projects within budget and in shorter timeframes. "As we continue to grow and create our niche in the regional and global cargo movements, the biggest problem is not simply attaining year-on-year profit but also to exceed the growing needs and expectations of our port users. "Many of the IT projects and standard practices which will be implemented are directly aimed at improving customer satisfaction rates," Lim added. - PortsWorld. |
